Cool truck....567 miles from Nashville....hmmm.

New 40 gal. Suburban fuel tank w/ pickup/ sender. Fabbed tank cradle w/ DOM, straps go over the top of tank, thick rubber to insulate, no metal on metal. Entire cradle/ tank slides into the C-channel frame from the rear, bolt-in w/ 3/16" flange mounts X4.

Had a mild jack knife towing, minor frame tweak. After I ditched the factory 8' bed (because rust), the flat bed wouldn't sit flat enough in the last 20 inches only. Not worth time in a frame shop anyway, replacing 40" of frame rail was the Easy Button. 3/16" plated outside, another plate inside and plug welded. Squared, diagonaled, spot on, stout.

My automotive OCD took over and every part and surface has been stripped/ cleaned and painted. Anti-sieze on every nut n bolt removed/ replaced, no surprises down the road.

2-1/2" Summit cats w/ turbo mufflers. Upgraded greasable U-joints.

Includes the following:

Summit Racing buckets w/ vinyl covers, Summit seat sliders on 1" x .120"W square tube seat frame bolts to factory seat mounting points. Seats were tight w/ cage (now removed), still can be tight behind the wheel if yur a big guy because of the rake of the seat back. They sat kinda tall for DD use but would work better in a trail rig where eyesight over the hood matters. Seat mounting brackets could be cut down some or brackets redrilled to move seat back angle but would work better w/ aluminum racing type seats or smaller car seats.

I built similar seat frame mounting in a '90 F-150, used Buick Somerset buckets, Bronco console box that I insulated. Held 12 cans of yur favorite beverage on ice, even had a drain.

Aftermarket rear slider window w/ new gasket. 1/2" NC nuts securely welded in backboard for tie down points, X4.

1/2" NC tie downs X4 on flat bed w/ tie down rail. Fabbed stake pockets are a little undersized for standard 2X4s. Some warpage on the deck, got a little happy w/ heat while welding from underneath. Rustoleum primer w/ oil base gloss black on top side, Chassis Saver on bottom of bed.

New Mile Marker SS locking hubs. 15 X 10 rims w/ centers. Wheels need some attention.

Cut passenger side dash out because there was so much wasted space there. Plan was to find/ fab a storage box to bolt in. Factory dash insulation was stripped and replaced w/ HVAC insulation. No factory dash pad, fabbed a sheetmetal cover over the instrument panel. New heater core, blend doors/ cables are good. Blower motor was replaced several years ago, recent new squirrel cage and resistor w/ new switch. Easy access to everything.

Currently writing a list of 'to finish' items.

I was in love with this thing when you posted about selling to co-workers. I was figuring on double your asking cost for it. UGH.... AND I'll be in Southern WV this weekend. No $$ to play with right now, though it would make moving easy. If it was extended or a crew cab I'm not sure I could say no.

Things to finish:

Bed lamps need wired, have new pigtails. Needs license plate lamp. Front bumper turn signal lamps were fitted during fab w/ 2-wire lamps, need replaced w/ 3-wire. Fuel sender needs wired. Factory wiring to trans/ t-case needs hooked up, trans cover needs to come off. Needs tires.

Front clip was removed for firewall work, needs aligned/ gapped, pretty close now anyway, have the shims. Leaving the cowl off for now for visual inspection. It was prepped, seams resealed and painted w/ Rustoleum primer. Have new LMC plastic cowl screen. BTW, the leading edge of the hood at the inner/ outer panels started to rust. Repaired off the truck w/ resin and glass cloth, solid now. Planned on a used cowl hood from CL but didn't happen. Have a little extra paint w/ the code.

Factory mirrors need installed, needs gaskets, ain't found 'em yet. No interior door panels or visors. Aftermarket 3 gauge panel needs mounted, I'll prolly get that done.

Installed a new wiper motor/ pump several years back, pump not working right now, should be easy fix. Have a shut-off switch and wiring to the relay for the electric cooling fan, fan tends to run on after shut down, just needs re-installed.

Have some spare door parts: handles and regulators. Think I have new beltline window weatherstrp I/O somewhere. Bolt-in cage goes w/ it, it was from another PU model, made it fit. Doesn't hug the inside cab exactly but will work w/ the right seats. Bucket seats w/ frame as shown above go w/ it also. Also have a tilt wheel (automatic though) included. Set of 4 16.5 factory wheels and 9.50 8 ply tires also, they're stones now tho.

Fuel filler sits under the flat bed, never tried it at the pump but should be OK. I put gas in w/ ell shaped tubing and a funnel from gas cans.

To me, this is mostly Saturday afternoon type of stuff. Trying to get as much completed as possible but other things in life take priority right now. Like to move it sooner rather than later. I'll give it another week or so here then prolly gonna hafta post to CL... ugh.

Is it really sad that I'm hoping this doesn't sell till after we make our move to WV in a month or so? Then I can sell the 2wd POS I'm probably going to pick up to make the move with and then go scoop this piece of awesomeness up. Either way, free bump.

Dear Bob. I have no need of a truck, particularly not a flatbed, and particularly not a project, but even I'm wishing I could buy this thing. Shared around to my circle of friends.
