Ok, so I actually know what I want. I just need help locating one. Marketplace, Craigslist, Autotrader, etc have all come up dry for me so far.
Here are the trucks that I'm interested in.
- 2005-2010 F250/F350 6.8 V10 with automatic transmission
- 2001-2006 GM 2500/3500 8.1 V8 with automatic transmission
Must be rust free, crew cab (4 full doors), 4x4 and single rear wheel.
Budget is up to $15k. Located in central NC but definitely willing to travel to get what I want.
Not looking for beat up, worn out examples. Looking for a good, reliable tow rig that's in good condition.
I don't have any leads, but I can offer you a bump for the morning crowd.
good luck brother, we're looking for pretty much the same thing, though we're up in Minnesota, so due to the rust factor we may need to go a bit newer & higher mileage to keep costs down.
did you rule out the 2500/3500 ram trucks out for any particular reason?
Well, ended up in a slightly different situation than I planned. Ended up selling my 2019 Jeep Wrangler and used some of that money to buy a 2015 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins.
Initial plan was to spend sub-$10k on a gas 3/4-ton truck to get me by for a couple/few years. And sell my Jeep and pocket the cash for my garage build. Decided to pocket less money and just get the truck I really wanted. Plus, found a good deal on the Ram from a private seller that made it an even easier decision.
Forgot to include a picture of the new truck.
Nice! What's the payload on that bad boy?
Given how used trucks seem to be holding their value, I'm leaning in a similar direction. Gotta get out and test drive a few.
May i suggest you consider the Ford 7.3 powerstroke and the 06/07 GM LBZ
