I wondered how/why these guys came out of nowhere the past few years, but they acquired the Japanese Subsidiary of Shell between 2016 and 2019.
Neat company especially since they have a whole line of products for Rotaries..
Idemitsu already works with Mazda North America in “supplying all factory-fill lubricants and as the bulk oil supplier to the Genuine Mazda Premium Oil Program,” so it may not be too much of a surprise that the Japanese petroleum company is now the title sponsor for the Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires.
If the name Idemitsu—pronounced ee-dah-MIT-sue according to the press release—sounds familiar, that’s because the company also sponsored the No. 55 Mazda DPi that partook in the Rolex 24 this past weekend.
As far as the MX-5 Cup goes, not much will change besides Idemitsu branding appearing on all sides of each Cup car and as a windshield banner. Any and all clothing—from fire suits to series clothing—must also feature the Idemitsu logo.

Yeah, I've only heard of them because of their rotary specific premix. Sponsoring Mazda's IMSA race car prompted a bunch of "it's a rotary?" on social media.

They've been providing Mazda with their factory/dealer oil for many years, from what I seem to recall. They just don't have much in-store presence.
They're also the main sponsor for Takaaki Nakagami in MotoGP. They're getting their name out there in motorsports.

Maybe some more U.S. retail presence is on the way?
That was my thought, otherwise why advertise in the USA? Send them a GRM advertisers promo pack David!

We're on it!
While you're at it send one to Motul also since it seems Idemitsu has taken a step from the Motul playbook by entering into the USA market using races as part of their advertising and I haven't seen Motul advertised in GRM yet although their products are quickly gaining popularity in our market.
