I was definitely cheering for the Nelsons and spreading the word to my car enthusiast friends to keep and eye on them throughout the week. I was super happy to see them pull off a 9.08 on the first day. Can’t wait to see Calvin and his dad get this car sorted out. I enjoyed watching the build and look forward to more updates. Hopefully he works on his bracket racing with an 8.50 dial in as the class he is running in is super tight this year.
I was talking to someone about drag motors and they said "it's a really strong motor, we get 30 reliable passes out of it before we have to think about tearing it down" That's when I knew that going properly fast was much harder than I wanted to play with. Good luck to the Nelsons moving forward.

The 1917 Franklin is pretty cool. Those were built near me in Syracuse, NY. They used big air-cooled engines through the entire company's run from 1902 to 1934.
Edit: Did some reading and at that point, top speed for a Franklin was 45mph, with a whole 23.25hp from the big air-cooled inline-6. Also, they didn't have pressurized oiling, so every 100 miles you have to stop, pop all 6 valve covers off and oil the top end. God, his transits must be hell. These were also the ones with the cool Renault-style front ends.
The twin engine venture mini van is neat. Gasser class is still one of my favorites too watch. The green fairmont is still my favorite car this year.

The running joke between Lohnes and Freiburger about the Kingswood nameplate is hilarious "Accept no substitute: Kingswood"
Someone else will have to post the livefeed today, as I’m stuck under a snoozing sleepykid#2
Apparently a semi big deal was made of this earlier this year but there is a white superchaged G8 running Drag Week that was also on One Lap. I'm pretty fond of that plan.
I've been following the Aussie guys - those Barra engines are pretty cool. Also, Finnegan running in the 8 second range with a manual transmission in his '55 Chevy is impressive.
In reply to stuart in mn :
destroyed 1st gear in his trans yesterday and changed it and i think he ran a 9.01 or something as one of the last cars at the track
Someone just ran 5.99.
Drag racing fan or not that’s an insane feat for a car that just drove almost 1000 street miles.
In reply to 1SlowVW :
yep Tom Bailey ended up running a 5.99 at 250.

Calvin, where's the FMont build thread?
You can look up his Fairmount build on YouTube on his channel Nivlac57 . He documents the whole build and gives updates often to what he is up to in his garage.

What he said! Lol. Still haven't gone 8s, but we'll get there. Probably early next year.
If the weather holds Cecil should still be open on Saturday... just FYI ;)
