If I were King I'd allow the steering wheel thing... As long as you understand that if you hit another vehicle or pedestrian while doing do it's automatic death penalty with no appeals.

Nah, I’m completely opposed to the state executing people. Now, hanging them from their penis while giving them sensory enhancing drugs until it’s ripped off, now that’s a punishment I can live with.

But isn't that beheading?

It's very well said. I've always been a car guy. I've had/have Japanese, british, american, euro, electric....whatever...as long as they're cars. Be inclusive, even if you disagree with it. Discouraging someone to the point where they're like "this hobby sucks" means they're just go inside and get fat, or do meth and make porn, or do meth-get fat-and make fat porn... I don't like fat porn...or meth heads...mostly fat porn...

Not to bring this back from the dead..
today I was following a 4 door Civic that had been stanced. It had some tasty rims (but rattlecanned black) and had the whole super stretched tyres and nasty camber thing going on.
It think it really bothered him that my Landrover easily stayed with him through an offramp.
The thing I cannot figure out. The kids who stance these cars to make them look good (the above Miata and NSX -do- look good) why do they often run roof racks and roof bars?

Started with the hoodride VWs carrying all their E36 M3 like hermit crabs.

my niche is more obscure than yours!

That's part of the look too. A lot of the local guys also like to but a BMX or freestyle bike up on the rack.
One of the guys who rallycrosses with us is also a drifter, but he's not in to the "drift culture" so much. He lampooned it at our last rallycross with TWO roof racks (had just bought one from a guy at the rallycross) and we stuck a couple cones up there just for fun.

I highly doubt it bothered him.

He shoulda put the second on top of the first, for maximum rack-ness.
So I feel bad saying this, but.... I like a LOT of stanced cars. Not all by any means but there are some slammed rides out there that are sexy.
Whooo, I feel better getting that off my chest.
You realize that to the rest of the population we all fall into the same group: idiots messing around with cars.

There's nothing stupid about banging on water heaters with a wooden hammer.....oh, wait. That does sound kind of dumb. Nevermind
BTW, does appliance abuse count as a motorsport?

a lot of them are sexy.. when not done to an extreme.
And I know it bothered the guy... he took off as soon as the road straightened out. Not many people like it when the spot that huge grill in the back window when they think they are cornering hard
I agree that some of the cars do look pretty cool. Not everything I've done to my cars has been functional but I strive to be improving it in some way and definitely not making it perform worse.
When I was working as crew on a 996 at the 24 hours of Daytona some guys came up and used words like hellalush/stanced/illest etc. to describe our car. It indeed was those things but you could see the gleam of cheap coilovers and massive camber in their eyes.
Back at home a neighbor hellaflushed his new civic. It was hilarious to see him drive off with +2 degrees of camber in front and -5 degrees in the back. I'm guessing a Macstrut doesn't like to be dumped into the weeds like that. The car probably handled like a shopping cart.
I've debated on posting in this thread for a while (and the other "stance-tard" threads). I think a lot of you are too quick to judge, but there seem to be a few that realize that we are all in this together.
I daily a bagged Passat, complete with stretchy tires and flushy wheels. I haven't worn a baseball cap a day in my life. My pants fit properly. I don't own an excessive amount of fancy shoes. I am (almost) completely segregated from the VW "scene" at this time. I would openly stab the "low is a lifestyle" kids if it weren't for the repercussions/ their rich parent's lawyers...
Car in question:
It's just a fun daily driver, and an appliance. That's all.
If you can't smile at someone else's creation and say something positive, I suggest you chill the berkeley out. They're cars, guys... it's just a box with 4 wheels and an engine.

No turbo? YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG!!111!
I don't care what other people do to their cars as long as they don't crash them into mine or otherwise drive like an idiot on public streets. That's about the only thing you can do with your car that makes me angry.
And I see way more people in really nice, late model, luxury cars driving like complete idiots than I do stanced rides.
